ARTISTIC CAREER PATH AND APPROACH

They live and work in Santec, North Finistère, France.

Man&Pia is the collaborative duo formed by French artists Manolo Chrétien and Pia Loro, who met in Paris in 1987.

Growing up on Callot Island with an astronaut father, Manolo Chrétien inherited a passion for aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, for the movements induced by Earth's gravity.

A graduate of ESTACA and ENSAAMA, Manolo initially chose photography as his medium of expression.

Pia Loro, for her part, grew up in a family combining a scientific world and an artistic tradition, with a father who was a graduate of the École Polytechnique and a mother who was a visual artist.

A visual arts and perspective teacher, she provided much support to Manolo in his creative endeavors. Over time, they naturally decided to combine their talents.

Thus, since 2017, they have devoted themselves primarily to creating collaborative works.

Their practice merges Manolo's gestural and musical painting with Pia's figurative line, which reveals forms within abstraction.

Manolo Chrétien and Pia Loro draw their inspiration from the silent miracles of nature, its movements, patterns, and unexpected harmonies. They reveal the hidden geometry of plants, each unique like a fragment of living DNA. Fractals: these singular structures remain unchanged regardless of scale.

For them, art is born at the moment when one becomes aware of these fleeting wonders.
